Page Six has become a problem behind the scenes at “The View,” we’re told.
Sources say that after we published a story last week about the breakdown of relations between co-host Meghan McCain and her four fellow panelists, Sunny Hostin attempted to have a powwow with the other hosts. But a head producer tried to shut it down because they were afraid that a story about it would land in this column.
Last week, Hostin “wanted to have a [meeting] with Yvette [Nicole Brown], who was filling in for Meghan, before the show, but the head producer freaked out,” a source told us. We’re told the producer was worried that if the hosts were seen huddling while McCain was away from the set, it would seem as if the meeting was about her.
A source told us the terrified producer “was sweating and said, ‘You can’t have a meeting . . . Meghan’s not here. I don’t want any Page Six items saying you’re meeting without Meghan.’ ” A spokesperson for the show told us it was all a misunderstanding. “She wanted to introduce her longtime friend Yvette to [part-time co-host] Ana [Navarro], so they headed to Joy [Behar’s] dressing room to do just that.”
