On Thursday November 11, HelloBeautiful and MadameNoire hosted the first annual SpeakHER50 event in Atlanta Georgia, celebrating the vast accomplishments of 50 Black dynamic Black women and femmes.
The event brought together politicians, community advocates, activists and followers of iOneDigital platforms in the name of #BlackGirlMagic to celebrate the diverse list of honorees including, journalist April Ryan, activist Patrisse Cullors, and congresswoman Ilhan Omar. And beside these powerful women are the on the ground activists who deserve recognition for the daily work they do which requires a grueling level of sacrifice.
The evening will also include a special panel moderated by Madame Noire and HelloBeautifuls’s News Editor, Charise Frazier featuring SpeakHer50 honorees Clarissa Brooks, journalist and activist; Venkayla Haynes, an advocate against sexual violence; and Dawn Rowe, the founder of New-York based non-profit Girl Vow.
“These are the change makers encouraging us to embrace ourselves boldly and without shame; teaching us to dismantle the ways in which we were taught to dishonor ourselves; and pushing us to be greater, stronger, and unapologetic,” said Frazier.
