Rapper Lil Reese is in critical condition after being shot during a wild car chase in suburban Chicago, according to reports.
The 26-year-old rapper, real name Tavares Taylor, was chased by another car in Country Club Hills before a gunman leaped out with a small rifle and repeatedly shot at his car Monday afternoon, according to WGN TV.
The gunman pumped at least 12 shots into Reese’s Jeep Grand Cherokee before speeding off from the busy intersection, witnesses told the station.
The rapper was hit in the neck and raced to a local hospital before emergency services arrived, the report says.
He was listed in critical condition in Advocate Christ Medical Center, a spokesperson for the hospital told Complex. No arrests have been made, according to local reports.
The shooting initially sparked rumors that the Chicago-born rapper had died, which close friend and collaborator Lil Durk cleared up late Monday.
“Reese good” he tweeted with a blue heart emoji.
