The two suspects in Clark Atlanta University student Alexis Crawford’s killing have been arrested and charged with murder. Crawford’s roommate Jordyn Jones and Jones’ boyfriend Barron Brantley were arrested over the weekend, CBS affiliate WSB-TV reports. Brantley waived his right to appear in court Saturday (Nov. 9) while Jones will appear in court 11 a.m on Monday morning (Nov. 11).
The medical examiner ruled that Crawford’s cause of death was asphyxiation.
While the motive of Crawford’s murder is still unknown, she had filed a compliant against Brantley three days before she went missing for sexually assaulting her in the apartment she shared with Jones. It was either Jones or Brantley who actually led police to Crawford’s body, which was discovered in a DeKalb County park one week after she went missing. Crawford was only 21-years-old.
Jones and Brantley have been charged with malice murder, which means it was premeditated. If convicted they will serve life in prison.
Clark Atlanta University will be holding a candlelight vigil for Crawford tonight (Nov. 10). Her funeral will be held on November 16th, 2019 at the Hill Chapel Baptist Church in Athens, GA.
