Paul Haggis says rape accuser’s actions ‘reek of hypocrisy’

Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis says his rape accuser’s attempts to quash two depositions in the case “reek of hypocrisy” and show just how desperate she is, according to new Manhattan court papers.

“Plaintiff plays her game in two courts: this one, and the court of public opinion,” the “Crash” director’s lawyers claim in the documents.

Last month, it surfaced that two women acting as anonymous witnesses for publicist Haleigh Breest in her rape case against Haggis walked out as they were being deposed by the director’s lawyers.

Haggis’s lawyers want the pair’s depositions to either be finished or scrapped altogether, while Breest’s camp is pushing to have what was recorded in the session nixed, as it avoids any new sit-down — because she’s clearly lying, according to the court documents.

“While [Breest] seeks to hide her witnesses from {Haggis’s] rightful ability to depose them, Plaintiff also stymies Mr. Haggis’ ability to defend himself from her lies in the court of public opinion,’ ” the papers allege. “Defendant has a right to questions these individuals in advance of his trial for an alleged rape.”

Breest’s camp has previously accused Haggis, who wrote the flick “Million Dollar Baby,” of withholding the most basic information, including a sample of his DNA.

She is claiming that he raped her in her Mercer Street apartment in Manhattan in 2013.
