Millie Bobby Brown mocked for ‘fake’ skincare tutorial video

Millie Bobby Brown has been widely praised for her work on “Stranger Things,” but it seems she’s not so convincing when it comes to skincare tutorials.

To promote her new Florence by Mills beauty brand, the 15-year-old star shared a video of her nighttime skincare regimen, which incorporates several of her line’s products: a face mist, scrub, cleanser, moisturizer and lip oil.

But viewers quickly pointed out that Brown’s eye makeup remains intact throughout the clip, and that she doesn’t appear to actually be applying anything to her face whatsoever.

“I can’t believe she’s literally just dry rubbing her hands together and rubbing her face. Like … is this a prank?” one fan asked on Reddit.

Added another, “I don’t ever believe that celebs are ever selling us the skin care routine they actually use. But I still expect them to be willing to use it at least once! If you’re not willing to even put it on your face to make a sale, why should anyone else use it for real?”

A third commented chimed in, asking, “WTH was this. Do brands really think we don’t have eyes, like for real?”

But it was an apt quote from Brown’s “Stranger Things” character Eleven that earned the most upvotes: “Friends don’t lie.”

The video was stripped from Instagram following the backlash, but is still up on YouTube.

The teen actress isn’t the first star to be mocked for promoting her beauty line in a misleading manner. Kylie Jenner was recently accused of not knowing how to wash her face after sharing a similar (and obviously filtered) tutorial for her Kylie Skin line on Twitter.

And last year, Shay Mitchell made headlines for a staged Snapchat video promoting Bioré’s makeup remover. In the clip, she pretends to remove her eyeshadow with a cotton pad, but her makeup remains perfectly in place.

Florence by Mills’ PR team did not immediately respond to Page Six Style’s request for comment.
