Country singer Kylie Rae Harris remembered at funeral after fatal car crash

Kylie Rae Harris’ family and friends gathered earlier this week in Plano, Texas, to mourn the country singer, who died in a car crash on Sept. 5 at the age of 30.

“There was an outpouring of support from Texas musicians who attended in person and sent their condolences,” family friend Deborah Mash told E! News.

Harris’ father gave a eulogy at the service, held at Prestonwood Baptist Church Wednesday, and the singer’s 6-year-old daughter Corbie performed her song “Twenty Years From Now” alongside country star Bonnie Bishop.

Harris, 30, died in a three-car accident on Sept. 5 in Taos, N.M., en route to the Big Barn Dance Music Festival. Her Chevrolet Equinox crashed into 16-year-old Maria Elena Cruz’s SUV, and the teen was also killed in the crash.

Local authorities revealed that Harris’ speeding caused the accident. Alcohol is also believed to play a role, but toxicology reports are still pending.

The country music singer had a previous history of driving drunk. In June 2017, she got a DWI after her blood alcohol levels were twice the legal limit.

Harris’ mother Besty Cowen told People that her daughter had substance abuse issues, saying alcohol was “something [Kylie] struggled with on-and-off over the years” but did not share more details “out of respect to both families.”
